The ReSound'65® Sacred is packed with features that make this series unique, bringing the full Emmons experience into reach without compromise. It’s built for players who are looking for more than just a pedal steel guitar, they want simplicity, unique character, and deep connection.

The E7th Sacred Steel is a simplistic "open string" expression for musicians creating atmospheres and cool vibes in music genres spanning blues, gospel, country, rock or funk. The tuning is ideal for easy lead fills, strumming and framing methods that connect the soul and spirit to fresh, dynamic experiences.

SACRED STEEL

AMBASSADORS

Sacred Steel is a gospel music tradition featuring electric steel guitar, originating in the 1930s within African American Pentecostal churches, particularly the House of God and Church of the Living God. Pioneered by musicians like Willie Eason and Lorenzo Harrison, the instrument replaced organs to lead lively worship services, becoming an integral part of church life. Emmons was part of this tradition through players like Glenn Lee and others. The tradition has expanded beyond the walls of the church and has expanded into other contexts.   Emmons Guitar Company honors the enduring legacy of Sacred Steel, and is proud to partner with the rich and powerful heritage of this tradition. We have partnered with Roosevelt Collier, and DaShawn Hickman to develop and format the ReSound'65 platform especially for Sacred Steel and the E7th tuning. Emmons is proud to partner with the gifted players of Sacred Steel by way of this unique line of pedal steel guitar that we've designated, the ReSound'65 Sacred. This is a dedicated series of guitars that focus on the tuning, configuration, hardware, and tone of Sacred Steel, with unique features that set it aside from the rest.

We have the privilege of working with some of the most exceptional people in the business, and two artist who helped us with prototyping the Sacred Steel is Roosevelt Collier, and DaShawn Hickman. Development spanned more than a year on the ReSound'65 model leading us to the "Sacred" series of pedal steels we now offer. We appreciate and honor these two amazing ambassadors. Roosevelt is a transcendent talent on the ReSound'65 Sacred Steel, as well as the lap steel, and doing a stellar job as the Music Director and Band Leader for JellyRoll. Our journey began with Roosevelt back in 2022 at Bridgestone Arena when he needed emergency service work on his other sacred steel guitar, and we never looked back! DaShawn Hickman is one of the foremost contemporary practitioners of Sacred Steel, a blues-gospel tradition dating back to the Pentecostal-Holiness churches of the 1930. He was inducted into the Sacred Steel Hall of Fame and played the ReSound'65 Sacred while performing with Cirque du Soleil, and Steve Ray Ladson, a AGT finalist. Our journey with DaShawn began with an article in which he was featured in the New York Times, and the rest is history.
