1957 Bigsby T8

1957 Bigsby T8

All hail the Holy Grail!!!

This gorgeous example of mid-century craftsmanship is, without a doubt, one of the cleanest in existence, and is a true instance of pedal steel royalty! The lineage of the pedal guitar would be incomplete indeed, without the handiwork of P.A. Bigsby!

Starting in 1948, Speedy West challenged Bigsby to incorporate pedals into his original steel guitar design, and a star was instantly born. The Bigsby soon became the gold standard for serious professionals, and grew to be a foundational element of the now burgeoning pedal steel market. The first modern pedal functions were pioneered on this platform, and virtuosos like Buddy Emmons and Jimmy Day were heavily influenced by the prowess of their Bigsby guitars.

This guitar was birthed in 1957 at the behest of Oklahoma steel man Buddy Baker, and features the split pedal E tuning that Buddy Emmons had debuted the previous year. This instrument is in very good condition, and displays the exceptional skills of its namesake in breathtaking detail. It has been carefully stored for the last 40 years, and is the perfect example of a classic, original Bigsby!

The pictured Bigsby pedal is available in a separate listing.
